Additional Context:
In Arizona, the city of Scottsdale is trying to file a motion to dismiss legal proceedings against it by The Satanic Temple over the Scottsdale city councils refusal to allow a Satanic invocation at one of its meetings. Michelle Shortt, chapter head of TST Arizona, had initially been approved to deliver an invocation in April 2016. However, after this was delayed until June, the offer was then rescinded altogether due to The Satanic Temple allegedly having insufficient ties to the Scottsdale community.
Legal counsel Stuart de Haan noted that this stipulation was not present during the application process; and subsequent emails recovered via public records enquiry displayed ample evidence of blatant discrimination against the group. In a statement to the press, de Haan declared Our only intent is to not be discriminated against. If they allow us to speak or if they change the program so that it is inclusive as constitutionally required, that's what we're asking for.

Proceeds will be directed to The Satanic Temple's legal aid fund and the lawsuit against Scottsdale.

🤘 Band Profiles 🤘

Taco Sauce

Not your grandmother's girl band, Taco Sauce is an all women, brujeria-powered surfpunk/garage rock band that began as a side project for Gabi Montoya (front woman of Juju Fontaine) that served as an outlet for her feminist rage and tongue-in-cheek social commentary.

After years of experiencing blatant sexism and religious oppression, her thematic songwriting seeks to break arbitrary social expectations of how women should speak and behave, and paints a more realistic picture of the complexities of modern femininity, the good, bad, and saucy.

Isabella Rodriguez and Dessa Keys give Gabi's ideas life with brash garage rock beats and 70s metal-inspired bass lines, often with 60s girl group soul and swagger weaved in. Their versatile catalog will have you dancing all night while simultaneously wondering, "did they write this about me?"

Darkest Desires

Darkest Desires first began as an instrumental project that explored the darker side of music written by Isaiah, who meticulously composes every track from scratch.

Once Isaiah's haunting melodies were combined with lyrics by Morgan Deathwish, their controversial music began to attract a variety of fans. Some have called their music triggering, others inspiring, and others just plain sexy.

Only just beginning to perform as a 2-piece band in early 2018, Darkest Desires hopes to continue providing their fans with more savagely emotive tunes for the senses.

Hell Follows

The infernal members of Hell Follows have been shredding in the Tucson music scene for more than ten years. Once on stage, fans will witness the beast that they unleash upon the crowd. Total naturals at their craft, Hell Follows is ready to put on a HELL of a performance, and they expect to see you in the pit!

Their sound is uniquely their own marrying elements of Tool, Gojira, and Meshuggah with a vocalist who overlays the music with his own syncopated mashup of black metal screams, death metal growls, and still finds time to croon like Mike Patton.

Hell Follows has shared the stage with many bands like the Faceless and Hemlock and local acts such as Scar Eater and Elyzian.

Saalythic is a multi-genre metal band whose sound ranges from Horror metal to industrial, and even Nu Metal. Their lyrics are inspired by the supernatural, sex, and their own personal life experiences. The formation of the band first began with vocalist Sythe Cruz, and guitarist Havoc Byrd when they were budding metalheads in highschool. The dark and dreadful Sunnyside Highschool auditorium was where this duo blended each others musical talents. Saalythic was born.

After a few house shows with different members, Drummer Khaos was found through an online ad and the trio hit it off immediately. After some time searching for the fourth member of their band - Saalythic discovered bassist Neko, formerly bassist of locally well-known Solace in Nothing. Together Saalythic's signature corpse paint, masks, gore, dark humor and even live Flesh Hook Suspensions moves and entertains their audience. Whether it be excitement, shock, horror, or even just the pure love of the music the crowd is always left satisfied or terrified. If you enjoy listening to Kittie, Arch Enemy, Rammstein, and Primus, you'll definitely want to listen to Saalythic.

Sythe Cruz - Flesh Hook Suspension Artist

Sythe Cruz, better known for her demonic growls and angelic singing in Saalythic, has a lot more to offer for the entertainment of her crowd.  The art form of flesh hook suspension has made its way into Sythe's performances with Saalythic which leaves her audience gasping, cringing, and marveling in wonder. Viewers from the audience seem to find it at least a little bit shocking; some even having to leave the room as she is pierced on stage. The crowd will be expected to support Sythe as she gets pierced with a coundown of "1, 2, 3 quickstick".

Flesh hook suspension can be viewed as terrifying, shocking, entertaining, or even outright horrific. This body modification performance style requires the performer to professionally pierce hook into one's flesh. These hooks are then connected to a rope and rig that are used to lift the performer up into the air.

Sythe, who has done a total of six suspensions over the last four years, describes her time in the air as, "A spiritual experience that separates you. I am able connect to my mind and body at the same time."  Flesh hook suspension are not for the faint of heart and should not be attempted without the help of professionals.

The Besmirchers

"Gutter punk meets ’80s hardcore with a lunatic for a frontman. Lenny Mental and his bandmates (Superstar Penis Demilo, Dirty Dooley, and PBR Destroyer) bash themselves, the listener, and anyone within earshot with six songs of utter chaos.

The Besmirchers could give less than one fuck about anything other than having a good time, so if you’re into blood, booze, dirty sex, and over-the-top punk rock, this is pure mayhem at its finest. Viva Old Pueblo punk!"

The Satanic Temple and The Satanic Temple Arizona Chapter

The mission of The Satanic Temple is to encourage benevolence and empathy among all people, reject tyrannical authority, advocate practical common sense and justice, and be directed by the human conscience to undertake noble pursuits guided by the individual will. Politically aware, Civic-minded Satanists and allies in The Satanic Temple have publicly opposed The Westboro Baptist Church, advocated on behalf of children in public school to abolish corporal punishment, applied for equal representation where religious monuments are placed on public property, provided religious exemption and legal protection against laws that unscientifically restrict women's reproductive autonomy, exposed fraudulent harmful pseudo-scientific practitioners and claims in mental health care, and applied to hold clubs along side other religious after school clubs in schools besieged by proselytizing organizations.

Our inspiration for the fundraiser's title was inspired by Scottsdale City Councilwoman Kathy Littlefield.

The Temple’s latest move is a lawsuit against the City of Scottsdale, which denied one member of theTemple the right to give an invocation before a city council meeting. Councilwoman Kathy Littlefield stated in official email that she did “NOT want the Satanists” to speak and that the mere idea that they should have such a right was an example of “taking equality too far.”

*Be sure to not miss the lecture by TST legal counsel Stu de Haan and TST AZ Chapterhead Michelle Shortt for further details.*

Spokesperson and Co-founder of The Satanic Temple, Lucien Greaves, adds: “It’s disheartening when public officials can display such a flagrant disregard for the most foundational bedrock principles of Constitutional Law while acting upon their personal biases at the expense of their taxpayer base, who are ultimately left to pay the legal costs for the ignorance of their Mayor and City Council.”
