Representatives of many other faiths have done the invocations.
Councilman Sal DiCiccio called the Satanist decision “dumb” and told a reporter, “Well it's definitely going to be making a mockery of everything, they want to mock the City of Phoenix, the taxpayers, and the people who want to take this stuff seriously.”
I agree with the ‘dumb’ part.
Satanists should NOT be delivering a prayer at a Phoenix City Council meeting.
Neither should Catholics, Jews, Muslims, Baptists, Sikhs, Hindus or anyone else.
It’s that whole separation of church and state thing. We have a lot of trouble with that. We'd save ourselves a lot of unnecessary political, emotional and financial distress if we figured it out. And, in a way, there is a valuable lesson to learn by having Satanists deliver the invocation at the council meeting ."- Quoted from the article by E.J. Montini
