What is Lord of the Ties?
Lord of the Ties is a clothing drive hosted by The Satanic Temple Arizona Chapter that aims to collect specific clothing donations in the form of business casual and semi-formal attire.
TST AZ’s “Lord of the Ties” seeks to provide resources for disadvantaged people who wish to improve themselves by providing clothing and information to resources such as: resume building websites, upcoming job fairs, addiction-recovery programs, and sober living housing within Arizona.
In accordance with The Satanic Temple’s 1st Fundamental Tenet, “One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason”, TST Arizona believes that all people deserve to lead productive lives free from addiction. Through generous donations from the public and a helpful informational pamphlet, “Lord of the Ties” seeks to facilitate those with the aspirations to do so by providing information to necessary resources to accomplish the monumental task, whether it be finding opportunities for work or a living situation in a positive environment that encourages a sober lifestyle.
Occasions such as applying for jobs and attending court dates can become transformative life events that can influence a person’s future. Although tenacity and assertiveness are essential attributes needed for success in life, so is dressing and acting for the position one wishes to attain. Self-confidence and knowledge for tackling impending obstacles are key components that prove beneficial for all those who are looking to make an impression during a job interview or court date. Studies have shown that recovering addicts are also more likely to stay clean if they are employed. According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration,
….”Order, routine activities, and a rigid schedule counter the characteristically disordered lives of residents and leave little time for negative thinking and boredom-factors that often contribute to relapse.”……. Center for Substance Abuse Treatment. Therapeutic Community Curriculum: Participants Manual. DHHS Publication No. (SMA) 06-4122. Rockville, MD: Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, 2006.
TST AZ’s “Lord of the Ties” will play a small role in helping to nurture these necessary qualities by providing clothing and crucial information for all donation recipients who desire personal-growth and self-improvement.
